Elayna Smith, of Brookfield, was arrested on Saturday, Sept. 28, during a traffic stop when police learned that she was a passenger in a car with whom she had a protective order, said Newtown Police Lt. Aaron Bahamonde.

According to police, Smith attempted to give police a fake name when first questioned, but her identity was quickly discovered, as well as the no-contact order, Bahamonde said.

She was arrested and charged with interfering with an investigation and violation of a protective order. She was also given an additional protective order reminding her to keep away from the other party, he said.

Smith was released on a $500 bond. The only problem was after being released, police watched as she entered a vehicle and got inside with the same person inside that she had the protective order against.

She was immediately arrested against and released after posting an additional $1,000 bond.
